The A-Tier is moving from a Thursday to Saturday schedule to a Wednesday to Friday schedule. This is still a three-round event.
The NT is moving from a Thursday to Saturday schedule to a Wednesday to Saturday schedule. This is no longer just a three-round event. The top 40% of the field will play a fourth and final round on Saturday.
With this being said, the dates for the A-Tier are now Wednesday, April 24 to Friday, April 26, 2019.
The dates for the NT are now Wednesday, April 24 to Saturday, April 27, 2019.
The MPO and FPO will be playing at the Emporia Country Club all four rounds. 8-10 short pads will be used for the FPO division.
The Block Party will still take place on Saturday night – April 27.
Why the change?
- The GBO has morphed its way into being a week-long event. With a larger majority of our participants getting to town the weekend before the GBO, it makes sense to use more of the week for disc golf.
- The GBO has had some weather issues in the past. Having Saturday open for the A-tier does give us the flexibility to reschedule a round if weather does become an issue.
- Allowing all GBO A-Tier participants the freedom in their schedule to watch the final round of the MPO and FPO field play at the country club on Saturday gives us a chance to have the largest gallery in disc golf history during the final round of the GBO!
We are looking forward to announcing other special events that will be added to the GBO schedule. Info will be added on a weekly basis to the glassblownopen.com site with additional details on the 2019 GBO.
